With New Year’s Eve just around the corner, we’re certain you have loads of parties to attend. Whether you’re celebrating with family or friends, everyone wants to look their best.
That’s why we’ve gone out and found the best party dresses for you to buy this holiday season, and best of all, we show you what to wear to flatter your shape.
Party dresses for apple shapes
The apple shape can be challenging to dress. Ladies with this shape carry their weight on the top half of their bodies and usually have much skinnier legs. The goal here is to elongate and slim your mid-section, and draw attention to your beautiful toned legs.
The best shapes for you are: wrap dresses, empire waist-lines and flared dresses. These shapes will nip you in at your smallest part (just under your bust) and balance your hips with your décolletage.
Top tip: stay away from wide belts around your tummy, rather go for a skinny belt just above your natural waist.

Party dresses for pear shapes
Pear shapes carry their weight around their hips and bums, but usually have a tiny waist to show off. Again, the main thing to remember here is to balance your hips with your shoulders and bust. Think about creating the appearance of a larger top half, and drawing attention to your small waist.
Go for dresses that highlight your waist, have illusion patterning that slim your hips, and detailing along the bust.
Top tip: embrace your curves ladies! Women are getting surgery just to have what you were born with!

Party dresses for rectangular shapes
The rectangular body shape is often described as straight up and down. These ladies are usually tall and lean (lucky them!). For a more feminine look, think about softening your lines and creating curves.
When it comes to shape, you can pretty much play with any shape; A-line, bodycon — nearly everything will look great on you.
Top tip: knee length pencil dresses that taper at the calf will create some sexy curves.

Party dresses for hourglass shapes
If you’re lucky enough to have an hourglass figure, congratulations! Your body is perfectly balanced from shoulders and bust, to waist and hips. The goal with your shape is to not lose this balance. So go for dresses that show off your curves.
Top tip: stay away from high necklines, they’ll give your bust the appearance of being larger and subsequently, disturb the balance your body naturally has.

Plus size party dresses
We couldn’t narrow down all plus size women into one category, but you can still wear amazingly beautiful party dresses. The trick is to find your shape using the guidelines above, then choose a party dress you love.
If you’re curvy, but are have roughly the same size hips and bust, then the general rules of the hourglass figure apply. Likewise with pear and apple body shapes. Focus on your shape rather than your weight and accentuate your best feature.
If you have great legs, an empire waist dress with chiffon fabric will draw attention to that feature. If you have a great bust, v-neck dresses will show off your best assets. Rule of thumb: play up your assets and minimise your ‘flaws’.
