Summer is nearly here and I’m sure we’re all in agreement that it’s something to celebrate.
So Snap n Save is here to tell you about 4 outdoor events happening across South Africa to enjoy with your family this October.
The Colour Run Durban
When: 9 October 2016
Where: Durban North College, Durban
Dubbed the “Happiest 5km on the Planet”, the Colour Run hosts more than 200 events in 50 countries across the globe — all in an effort to promote healthiness and happiness, but most importantly, to raise money for charity.
The 5km untimed race is all about having the time of your life and nothing about running at all. From the word go, your only real objective is to get as plastered in colourful paint as you possibly can before reaching the finish line.
After crossing the finish line you’ll enjoy jamming to music mixed by DJs and be entered into the best-dressed competition. There is also plenty of food and drink, and massive ‘colour throws’ — perhaps best described as a daytime fireworks-type display of luminous paint!

Cape Town International Boat Show
When: 14–16 October 2016
Where: V&A Waterfront, Cape Town
Already in its 16th year, this luxury affair is an annual highlight on the social calendar of every Capetonian. Don’t let your inability to buy your own boat put you off showing up at ‘the granddaddy of boat shows on the African continent’.
Bring your family to ogle at the most luxury water craft money can buy, and all the fancy gear that goes with them. Expect to see lavish boats — both big and small — and enjoy sailing courses, boating demonstrations and the chance to win fabulous prizes.
And if you’re actually a boat owner looking to upgrade your status, you’ve found the right place too!

Come show your support at the 22nd edition of Africa’s biggest kite festival swooping into Muizenberg’s Zandvlei Nature Reserve again this year. This high-flying affair showcases professional kiting displays, which include giant inflatables, stunt kites and highly-skilled kite fighting.
Bring a kite, buy one at the festival — or even learn to make your very own at a kite-making workshop! Festival-goers can expect loads of family-friendly activities, with all the proceeds going to Cape Mental Health.
