Pre-pandemic, we were used to washing our hands after bathroom visits, before prepping meals and eating. Fast forward to the lockdown, and the skin on our hands is either pruned or super dry from all the extra handwashing we’ve been doing to protect ourselves from Covid-19.
How can you give your hands a little extra TLC? Local beauty guru Jesslynn Shepherd, the founder and owner of Lulu & Marula, has a fabulous recipe for a DIY hand mask using only four food ingredients!
Added bonus? It’s a multi-tasking mask that can be applied to your feet, and even your hair, for a blast of moisturising goodness. Plus, by adding 1 tbsp of sugar or oats, you can transform this mask into a scrub to exfoliate, removing dead skin cells, says Jesslynn. However you use her recipe, we can all agree that a little pampering goes a long way… enjoy!
- The flesh of 1 ripe avocado
- 2 tbsp of honey
- 1 tbsp of coconut oil or olive oil
- 2 tsp of plain yoghurt
- Food blender or whisk
How to make this DIY hand mask & use it:
- Mix all the ingredients together in a food blender, or whisk together in a bowl by hand.
- Apply to cleanly washed hands, wrap in cling wrap, then sit back and relax for 15 minutes before washing off to reveal super-soft hands.
Make this a weekly or twice-weekly ritual, and you’ll be grateful you did. Now all that’s left to do is to master that at-home mani… oh, did we mention, we have a nail-polish-hacks article for that, too? Click here. You’re welcome!
