All the fashionistas and socialites were out in full force at the South African Fashion Week that was held at Sandton City last week. Including our stylish fashion editor, Xolani Gumede! And since we all can’t attend, Xolani decided to share some of her favourite designers from the SAFW SS18 shows.
So, here’s who (and what) to keep in mind when shopping for your spring/summer wardrobe later this year:
Established over a decade ago by designer Hangwani Nengovhela, Rubicon is definitely one of South Africa’s most sought-after label. Embodying class, sophistication and beautifully made garments!
Known for their signature leather and black structured garments, the design duo Carina Louw and Natasha Jaume stunned with their beautiful yet strong fuchsia swimsuits, a red blouse, and a gorgeous yellow dress.
Always one to push the (fashion) envelope, Gert is known for his work with some of SA’s top celebrities. This season, he collaborated with McDonald’s for a show stopper sea of reds, yellow and of course, the colour of the year – purple.
If you’re looking for affordable luxury pieces, then look no further. Judith Atelier designs beautifully constructed, feminine clothes for the modern fashion-forward woman.
Mantsho by Palesa Mokubung
A fun mix of contrasting fabrics and colours was the highlight of this season’s show. Mantsho’s founder and designer Palesa Mokubung won the prestigious Fashion and Innovation Award at the Mbokoko Women in the Arts Awards in 2014, and continues to make waves in the fashion world every season.
Relatively new on the block, Mmuso Potsane and Maxwell Boko come together to bring us high-end, ready-to-wear designs that every woman can wear.
