Metallics seem to be everywhere this season. And of course we all want to stay trendy and keep up with the latest and hottest styles, but who isn’t scared to make a fool of themselves with such a bold trend?
Well, our fashion editor has you covered. We show you how to wear metallics while looking chic (and Earth appropriate)…
How to wear metallics — everything you need to know
1. Think proportion
Wearing metallics is a lot like wearing white: approach with caution. If you want to feel amazing in your outfit, think about your body shape and which item of clothing should be metallic.
If you’re pear shaped, opt for a metallic top to draw the eye towards your smaller upper half and your waist. And if you’re apple shaped, a trendy metallic skirt will draw all the attention to your stunning legs.
2. Colour matters
If you’re going for an understated look or worried about looking too crazy, opt for deeper coloured metallics rather than super bright hues.
That way you’ll be able to wear your metallics with more outfits and you’ll probably be able to wear your sparkly buys to work (not to mention for a few more seasons).

3. Mix and match
Rather than trying to put together a totally shiny ensemble, rather mix and match fabrics and colours.
Pair a glittery top with cool and relaxed boyfriend denims, wear a metallic skirt with a plain black blouse or choose sparkly accessories to accentuate an outfit.
4. All in the details
If you’re still not convinced to try the metallic trend, why not buy a few accessories first? A cool silver bag or shiny boots will give your everyday look a refreshed look, without trying too hard.
Best of all, metallic accessories are always coming in and out of fashion, so you’ll get a lot of use out of them.

5. One at a time ladies
The most important tip you must remember is: never wear two metallic pieces in the same outfit! Like with most trends, less is definitely more. One well-placed metallic item is all you need to make a fashion statement this season.
