This year’s Mercedes Benz Fashion week did not disappoint. The much anticipated fashion event had all the best celebs and fashionistas out in full force. From the always stunning David Tlale to new comers like Nandi Madida (nee Mngoma), the fashion was undeniably beautiful.
As we enter a new season, the designers showed us which trends to carry through to the hotter months, and, of course, which new trends we should be updating our closets with. Here’s our fashion wrap up from Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.

Orange is the new black
The hottest colour this summer season is undoubtedly going to be orange. The pop of colour looks great on every skin tone, and says summer, summer, summer!
Show some skin
Don’t worry, we mean showing some skin in a completely classy way! There’s nothing sexier or more feminine than a sheer dress or top, so we’re excited that this trend is here to stay.
Top Tip: make sure that whatever you’re wearing underneath your sheer clothes is just as flattering and stylish as the sheer item itself. Be it a concealing bra, or cute cammi, don’t let your undergarments distract from your outfit.
Designers such as Laduma and Nhlanhla Nciza inspired us to show off our inner African queens. And ladies, everyone can wear this trend. If you’d like to dip a toe in the trend, but are worried about going OTT, choose one African-inspired item. It can be anything — from earthy earrings to head wraps or vibrant prints and statement necklaces.

Great news — monochrome is the perfect trend to carry over from last season (so you can keep wearing last season’s favourites). Update the monochromatic trend by wearing it with flowing light fabrics and cute sandals.
