Some fashion trends can be tricky to pull off in an everyday setting – like those plastic knee jeans, or even more outrageous than that; thong jeans. But are any regular people (read us) trying these fashion stunts? Probably not.
So, we’ve put together 5 fashion trends that anyone can pull off this autumn. And the best part? You don’t have to be rail thin, or a millionaire, to buy and add these effortlessly chic trends into your wardrobe.
Silver is no longer just for your jewellery. Last year brought us metallic ankle boots, and this season it’s all about taking silver to the next level. Plus, it’s oh-so easy to wear all silver – pair a feminine silver midi skirt with a versatile silver tank top, add a pair of strappy or court heels and you’re good to go!
If you want to play it on the safe side, start off by buying a pair of silver shoes. They will go with almost anything in your closet, and you can dress them up for a night out, or down for lunch with your girls.
Top Tip: Opt for matte silver clothes for a more wearable look.
Shoulder pads are back, and this time they’re bigger and better than ever. This retro fashion trend is perfect for ladies with pear or rectangular body shapes.
- For pear-shaped women: The added width around your shoulders will balance out bigger hips, and give your silhouette the illusion of having an hourglass figure.
- For rectangular-shaped women: Shoulder pads are a great way to add curves to your body; just be sure to cinch the waist in, and pair the look with an A-line skirt for balanced out proportions.
The ‘granny chic’ trend is proving to be timeless. Plus, getting all snuggled up in over-sized knits is the easiest way to stay on trend during the chilly season. The best way to wear cosy knits is with skinny jeans (extra points if they’re ripped) and a fitted top. You don’t want to look like you’re drowning in fabric, so make sure the knit is the only bulky item you’re wearing.
Office wear for everyday
Creating a modern capsule wardrobe is all about resourceful shopping. Fashion trends come and go, but you should be able to pair every item in your closet with at least three outfits. And now, you can add your office wear into the mix too.
Borrowing from the boys, you can now take your pantsuit out for a night on the town. Try the trend in basic black, a masculine check pattern, or a feminine floral print. Just add a pair of cool kicks if you’re going for comfort or a pair of strappy heels for a dressed up look.
Multi-coloured faux fur
Cure all your winter blues with a fun and playful multi-coloured faux fur jacket. Fur has taken a detour from its usual brown and grey palettes, and embraced colour this season. A colourful fur jacket will not only keep you warm, but will also become your go-to accessory during the winter months. Let the jacket do all the talking by wearing it over a simple dress, or pair it with jeans and a tank top for a laid-back look.
Top Tip: Try to keep all other accessories to a minimum for a polished look.
