South African Fashion Week was WELL worth the wait. The bi-yearly event was held in Hyde Park last week, and all the fashionista and socialites were out in full force — eager to see what the designers had in store for us. The 2017 Autumn/Winter collections at fashion week were as diverse as the crowd itself. From breathtaking avant garde creations, to cool ready-to-wear clothes, we were definitely impressed.
Erre was most certainly a standout designer this season. The effortless mix of femininity and masculine elements leads itself so well to the modern woman. Their signature use of leather was innovative and soft, and the unexpected woolen shawls are the perfect luxe accessories for next winter.
Here are more of our favourite trends straight from the Fashion Week runway.
Classic black and white is always ultra-chic and versatile. Designers such as Gert-Johan Coetzee, Mantsho and Sun Goddess know just how to make a woman look great in these classic colours.
Tapping into natural fabric and textures was a huge trend on the runway. From feather details to beautiful wool and fur, designers definitely took inspiration from mother Earth.
Sparkle and more
Sequins, sheer, metallic and lace — all the pretty stuff we love! Designers like J.J Schoeman and Colleen Eitzen gave us drama and some much needed fun on the runway. With classic silhouettes and playful fabrics, we were thoroughly impressed.
Playful bohemian and 30’s flare are a perfect match, as designers SOBER and Kottin and Twille showed us. Tap into your vintage side and wear feminine, yet structured designs.
Pops of colour
In a sea of dark colours, it was beautifully refreshing to see bursts of yellows, oranges and reds.
