Are you looking for a quick weekend project that will help you maintain order in your kitchen. Then this all-in-one wall organiser, featuring a writable blackboard with hooks, a storage shelf and built-in pinboard, is perfect for you. It will take you less than three hours to complete.
Follow these simple steps set out by Bosch Power Tools SA.
You will need:
- 1 MDF board (60cm x 90cm x 1,9cm)
- laminated edge-glued beech wood (60cm x 18cm x 1,9cm)
- cork board (60cm x 30cm)
- blackboard paint
- 3 hooks and screws to match
- two 8-mm wooden plugs
- wood glue
- 3 wood screws (4mm x 55mm)
- four 8-mm wall plugs and screws to match
- 1 flower pot for herbs
- a Bosch Uneo Maxx cordless rotary hammer and a Bosch GluePen cordless glue gun
Get the MDF board and laminated wood cut to size at your DIY store. Mark on the MDF board where the shelf will be fixed, leaving enough room for the shopping list above. Mark three drill holes on the line you have drawn, two 5cm from each end and one in the middle. Midway between the marks, make two more marks for the wooden plugs. Transfer these marks to the laminated wood.
Be precise, as the plugs will otherwise not fit. To ensure that the marks for the wood screws can later be seen on the back, use a thin drill bit between 1mm and 2mm, and drill the marks through the MDF board.
Drill the holes for the two wooden plugs in the MDF board and the laminated wood, using the Bosch Uneo Maxx cordless rotary hammer, and activate the impact stop function. Use a drill with a diameter of 1mm to 2mm less than the size of the plug. It’s important not to drill right through the board and that the plug is fixed correctly.
Useful tip: Tape the drill bit about half the length of the plug, in this case 4mm to 4,5mm; don’t drill further than this mark.
Use the proper hole saw attachment to saw a hole for the herb pot in the shelf. Before joining shelf and wall board, apply blackboard paint to the board and let it dry.
Insert the wooden plugs with glue into the pre-drilled holes on the shelf. Run some glue along the edge, and push the shelf into the plug holes on the wall board. Fix the shelf by screwing three wood screws into it from behind, using the tiny holes described in Step 1 as your guide. In the lower part of the wall board, fix three hooks with screws to hang your tea towel, apron and shopping bag.
All that remains is to glue the cork for the pinboard to the wall board with the Bosch GluePen, and to fix the finished kitchen organiser to the wall with wall plugs and screws. Your perfectly organised kitchen is now ready, and your guests will appreciate not only the delicious meals on offer, but also the neat, tidy and stylish surrounding.
