This pop up photo box is a lovely fun present that’s very easy to make. It’s a perfect memento for family members like grannies and grandpas and it makes a great gift for those difficult-to-buy-for people who have everything. When you’re done, print out these gift tags to attach to your present, and voila, a gorgeous present that’s handmade with love.
To make your pop up photo box, you will need:
- White cardboard sheets
- White A4 paper
- Black and white photo prints
- Trinket box
- Paint and paint brush
- Super glue
- Sticky tape
Create a template by tracing the shape of your trinket box on a piece of white cardboard.
Now measure out an inner shape so that your photo cards will fit nicely into the box and cut out the template.
Trace three shapes in a row on your cardboard and cut them out to create the photo strip. Fold them on the join like a concertina. To create a long string of photos, join the loose shapes with a piece of sticky tape at the back of the card.
Trace the shape of your template on the black and white pictures and cut out the shape. Make sure it’s a nice crop and you don’t cut off important parts of the image.
Now paste the images on the cards with glue and make sure the sides are flush.
Cut a piece of decorative ribbon to size and tape up the loose ends to make a loop. Now stick the loop to the back top of the first card to make it easy to lift the photo strip from the pop-up photo box.
The final touch is to paint the trinket box in the colour of your choice. We chose turquoise as it contrasts nicely with the black and white photographs and ribbon.
