Looking to update your home but not sure where to begin? The best place to start is with colour; choose a focus shade and then build around that with complementary colours creating a palette to work from.
Dulux has done just that with its Dulux Colour Futures 2018 palette. Breaking it down even further into home palettes, Dulux created four distinct colour palettes paired with the Colour of the Year for 2018, Pictured Rocks also known as Nordic Sails 2.
‘Our 2018 Colour of the Year truly captures the mood of the moment and its four complementary colour palettes will help consumers achieve a home that is truly and uniquely theirs, bringing a feeling of safety and reassurance, and creating a welcome home for all,’ adds Palesa Ramaisa, Dulux Colour Consultant.
We’ve created a starter pack for each home palette as a visual guideline for you add to your mood board…
The Pictured Rocks home
Dulux has named Pictured Rocks as the Colour of the Year for 2018. The warm, sophisticated pink makes a great base colour when it comes to home decor. Easily combine grey-pink shades with blues and soft cocoa tones.
The comforting home
This palette is all about creating a restorative space to come home to after a long day – where you can recharge and reset. Think about balancing calming earthy tones with warm blush pinks, and go for velvet when experimenting with texture.
The playful home
If you’re a light-hearted, adventurous spirit, don’t be afraid to reflect those traits in your house. Add some fun to your rooms by working with this bold colour palette filled with yellow-toned greens and gold to help invigorate the senses.
The inviting home
This home is made to be shared with its use of calming blue shades. Opt for natural fabrics when adding texture and try to create an open-plan design to match the mood of this colour palette.
