Découpage is making a big comeback and is one of the most popular crafts you can learn. Learn to do a découpage box with these simple steps.
- Cut out some wrapping-paper flowers very neatly using a scalpel or small pair of nail scissors.
Dilute PVA glue with water and paint onto the back of your first flower cut-out, then stick on to the lid of your box.
Load the brush with glue wash, paint over the flower cut-out and stick on the next one. Continue layering up the cut-outs.
Brush the box with five coats of varnish to seal your design and to give it a glossy finish.
Tip: Magazines, newspapers, wallpaper and posters are great for découpage – comics are brilliant for transforming furniture in a kids’ bedroom.
