Check out our picks for the best moments of 2018:
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding
Almost every little girl dreams of being a princess, so watching Canadian actor (and non-royal), Meghan Markle, saying ‘I do’ to Prince Harry felt like seeing our childhood fantasies come to life.
Only a few months later, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared the exciting news that they’re expecting their first child. Who says Disney movies aren’t realistic?
Rihanna’s Body Lava
The beauty community couldn’t stop raving about Rihanna’s make-up brand, Fenty, especially when they released their ‘Body Lava’. This metallic liquid gives your skin a gorgeous, otherworldly glow as demonstrated in Rihanna’s viral tutorial video.
Black Panther was arguably the most highly anticipated movie of the year, showing off a predominantly all-black cast for Marvel’s first black superhero. Earning over $1 Billion internationally and taking home a plethora of awards, it’s safe to assume that a sequel is on the horizon (Wakanda forever!).
Fellow superhero film actor Zendaya took 300 school children from her hometown of Oakland, California, with her to see the movie in theatres. You can check out the heart-warming video below:
Brooklyn Nine-Nine saved by the fans
Following the news that the popular police comedy show was being cancelled by Fox after its fifth season, fans started an online petition to save their beloved show.
Less than a day later, NBC broke the news that they would be picking up Brooklyn Nine-Nine for its 6th season. It just goes to show the power of social media.

The incredibly cute DJ Switch
Erica Armah Bra-Bulu Tandoh, a 10-year-old Ghanian, has been making waves in the music industry as a DJ – she’s 10! Tandoh chose her stage name, DJ Switch, because she wants to ‘switch up the mood of people’ and make them happy.
While she wants to continue to her music career and take it to an international level, she dreams of going into the medical profession as a gynaecologist when she’s older.
Winnie Harlow at The Victoria’s Secret Show
Ex-America’s Next Top Model contestant, Winnie Harlow, became the first model with vitiligo to ever walk down the runway as a Victoria’s Secret angel at their annual fantasy fashion show.
She strutted down the runaway as Shawn Mendes performed Lost in Japan, with the two even sharing an adorable moment ending with a graceful twirl by Harlow.
Drake’s feel-good ‘God’s Plan’ music video
Rather than depicting a fictional story focusing just on the artist, this music video shows Drake going around Miami donating to real, everyday people, and captures their reactions.
Over the course of the video, the artist gives away almost $1 million to families, schools and charities. Here’s hoping that we see some similar acts of kindness in 2019.
Rose gold hair
Rose gold has grown in popularity in everything from jewellery to make-up, and now it has taken over the hair scene. These coppery-pink tones add an element of romanticism to your look, and we’re big fans.

Carpool Karaoke with Paul McCartney
On The Late Late Show with James Corden, James gets a tour of Liverpool from rock royalty, Paul McCartney – you might know him from the Beatles (of course you know him!). The two drive around the city exploring places from McCartney’s life, such as his childhood home, all while singing along to some of his classic tunes.
Multichrome make-up trend
These colour-changing shadows had everyone mesmerised. Looking like something out of Harry Potter universe, these magical eyeshadows shift colours depending on which angle the light catches it.

The Carter’s Apes**t video
Let’s be honest, only the Carters could book out the entire Musée du Louvre just to shoot their latest music video and the result is mindblowing. Fans and critics alike raved about the video which, unsurprisingly, earned 8 VMA nominations.
This visual masterpiece had us in awe of the power couple that is Beyonce and Jay Z for weeks afterwards.
What the Fluff challenge
This fun video challenge took over social media with owners tricking their pets into thinking they had magically vanished from behind a blanket.
While dogs were the most targeted subjects of this sorcery, owners of cats and other animals also joined the challenge with some hilarious results. From the pooch frantically searching for their human to the steely pet simply returning to their nap, you’re bound to have a little bit of a chuckle.
