Bye bye headaches
Essential oil to use: Lavender
Battling a headache? Lavender helps to relax muscles and relieve tension.
What to do: Dab 1-2 drops of the Lavender oil onto your fingertips, then gently massage it into your forehead. It’s best to do circular motions; create a circle from above your eyebrow bone to below your cheekbone.
Essential to use: Anything minty – think peppermint or eucalyptus
If a blocked nose is a part of your daily life, these essential oils can help to clear your airways.
What to do: Dab 1-2 minty drops under your nostrils or onto a handkerchief for relief throughout the day.
Essential oil to use: Go for citrus, mandarin is Ray’s favourite
Citrus’ bright and vibrant notes actually make it perfect for calming essential oils.
What to do: 1-2 drops on your pillow and you’ll be drifting off in no time. Or, add drops to a tissue and tape the tissue to your aircon (or fan) for an optimal cold diffusion of the oil.
Remember: Pure essential oils are really concentrated so, when in doubt, only use 1-2 drops.
Besides these essential oil uses, Ray also shared some top tips for using oil in your beauty routine:
- Oily skin? You can still use facial oils just make sure to use more of a wax type like argan or jojoba.
- For body oils, apply on wet skin, possibly when you’ve just stepped out of the shower, so that it can be absorbed better and lock in moisture better. Plus, you’ll use less oil.
- If you’re using oils in the morning, wait about 10 mins before putting on any white clothes.
- And finally, Ray advises, “When you switch to oil, stick to oil.”
