If you’re someone who works out regularly, you probably love the refreshing feeling you get after completing a workout. You somehow forget how long it took to complete a 5km run or how you almost didn’t finish your set of lunges because you were so proud of yourself.
Exercising is good for our bodies but the sweat that comes with it isn’t pleasant. Here are tips that can help you sweat less after a workout
Wear clothes that curb sweat
The best fabrics to wear are nylon, spandex and bamboo because they absorb sweat, making you feel dryer and cooler during your workout. Nylon is lightweight, wrinkle-resistant and easy to wash, while bamboo is gentle on the skin and spandex doesn’t restrict movement. These materials each have unique qualities, but what they all have in common is that they’re resistant to perspiration.
Drink cold water
Drinking water is essential during and after a workout but if you want to sweat less, it’s best to ditch room temperature water and opt for cold water instead. This is because when you exercise, your body’s temperature rises, and this is what causes you to sweat. However, when you drink cold water it decreases your body temperature, causing a significant reduction in sweat.
Cool down in front of a fan
Fans are a good investment because not only do they cool you down, but they also control the room temperature as well. All it takes is a few seconds for you to cool down while standing in front of a fan. The cool air circulates over your body and causes your temperature to drop.
Take a cold shower
According to research, cold showers cause your blood to circulate at faster rates to help maintain ideal body temperature. They also reduce muscle pain after intense workouts.
Apply antiperspirant after your shower
Once you’re dry after hitting the shower, apply an antiperspirant deodorant on your underarms to keep sweat and body odour at bay. Aluminium salts are the active ingredients found in antiperspirants and they dissolve into the moisture on the skin’s surface to form a gel. The gel sits temporarily on top of the sweat gland to reduce the amount of sweat released.
