The internet has exploded after news that South African export and Daily Show host Trevor Noah just bought a $10 million penthouse apartment in New York.
The pictures of the apartment have us feeling incredibly jealous, but also pretty proud that we get to call Trevor our own!
We think it’s important to note that Trevor must have bargained the price down, as the apartment was originally listed for $13 million, then $11.5 million and he nabbed it for $10 million. High five from us! We saved R500 on a pair of shoes once.
If you’re wondering what R130 million buys you in New York, here’s a taste. (Click on the tweets to enlarge the images)

That’s a double volume, 335 square metre apartment PLUS an 85 square metre patio overlooking Manhattan. 3 bedrooms and a view of the Empire State building from the bathroom — so, basically just like your house.
Of course, Twitter was divided when it heard the news. Some people said Trevor should rather be spending his money in South Africa. The hoards descended on those naysayers, defending his decision to buy and do whatever he wants with his hard-earned cash.
Instead of hating on Trevor Noah’s success, you could:
1. Learn from it.
2. Earn good money for YOURSELF.
3. Spend it on WHATEVER YOU WANT. pic.twitter.com/nZyUYbcdHU

Don’t hate on Trevor Noah.
He made it.
Don’t tell him what to do with his money.
He is a role model.

And if you happen to find yourself in New York with a few hours to kill, here’s the building that the apartment is in. Who knows, maybe if you ring the doorbell, Trevor will invite you up for a beer?
Bonus: Take a video tour of another apartment in the same building (on sale for $4 350 000 — in case you’d like to be Trevor’s neighbour).
