Gondwana Game Reserve is a private, Big Five game reserve that’s situated in the heart of the Garden Route. Just a 45-minute drive from George Airport (or a stunningly scenic 4-hour drive from Cape Town), will lead you to 11 000 hectares of bush paradise, complete with free-roaming lion, buffalo, elephant, rhino, and leopard. Not only does the reserve boast the Big Five, but you’ll also be treated to the sight of herds of wildlife, like giraffe and eland. Set against the backdrop of the majestic Langeberg and Outeniqua mountains, the luxury reserve is a wilderness experience to remember.
A stay at Gondwana Game Reserve will be a comfortable and peaceful one. Gondwana’s Fynbos villas and Bush villas offer the luxury amenities of a safari lodge with all the comforts of home, making it the ideal stay for families or groups of friends. Each villa is situated for complete privacy, as well as awe-inspiring views from their expansive outdoor decks. Various packages can be booked with the villa accommodation, from Full Board (three gourmet meals at the nearby Kwena Lodge*, plus two daily game drives) to Half Board, and B&B and daily game drive packages, too. The B&B package allows for family braais at your villa and time to explore the Garden Route with its award-winning golf courses and top beaches, using Gondwana as a base.

Although children under the age of 6 aren’t allowed on game drives for safety reasons, kids won’t be left out: the lodge can make a family game vehicle available (subject to availability, for a fee), and there’s a Junior Ranger programme for kids of all ages. There’s also a baby-sitting service (for a fee, per child), while kids over 12 are welcome to join in on guided walks.
